Me Too!

I can't believe I waited so long to try this:

Fabric_card1

I love making these fabric cards! Duh. Now I understand why I saw people going crazy making them when this book first came out.

The card pictured above is one of several I'm making and will be sold at the craft market this weekend. I was so happy to see how the colors worked together. Particularly after I took all afternoon to choose just the right ones. (Yes, I'm addicted to the process.)

Well, I've made a huge list of all the things that I still need to make so no more chatting here... must get to work!

Puppy Love

I needed to unwind after a very busy week and making this little guy seemed to do the trick:

Blue_puppy

It's just so satisfying to make these puppies. A few months ago I cut out about a dozen patterns of them and whenever I get the chance I make one. I sure hope I still feel that way after making about a dozen more of them. "Why so many?" Oh, I'm glad you asked. Next weekend I'm taking part in a craft market (my very first) and along with a few other items I'm going to sell my puppies. Hopefully I'll make enough so that any extras can go into the shop. I'm planning an update (and hopefullly a new shop design/layout) that'll be just in time for Christmas!

Arrgh. That makes me think of the Christmas gifts that I want to make for my own family and friends. Hmm... I think it's time to make another puppy. ♥

Back-Tack II Finished

I’m so pleased to be finished with everything for my secret Back-Tack II partner. Phew! I decided to keep up the anonymity so she won’t know who she is, um… who I am, until she receives her package. (Yes, I’m felling a little tired.) I had to take the photos outside because it was too dark in the house - so the light is a little bright.

This first picture is a shot of everything minus a few extra goodies I included just for her.

I made a quilted tote bag from vintage fabrics. It is quilted on both sides and the lining is the aqua fabric. I found the pattern in “Quilted Bags in a Weekend.” In addition to not getting done in a weekend (no fault of the book), I had a problem with the straps (fault of the book). The measurements were way too narrow and I didn’t realized it until after I had sewn two long, skinny half inch noodles. A bit of a frustration, but I finally figured it out and added an inch to the width.

The Back-Tack II Update
Phew! I am presently in the final stages of finishing everything. Photos tomorrow!

Definitely A Tortoise

tor·toise n
1. a slow-moving land-dwelling reptile with a large dome-shaped shell into which it can retract its head and limbs. Family: Testudinidae
2. See testudo
3. somebody who moves very slowly

Yep, that's me - I'm definitely a tortoise. I’ve been thinking, planning, cutting and generally not finishing my Back-Tack II project for about two and a half weeks now. I’m quite pleased with what I’ve done so far – it’s just that I’ve been swamped with work, house projects and family. This week I plan to finish my project (really) and pop it into the mail by Thursday! In the meantime, here’s a little peek:

Another Portrait of Isaiah

I've been spending all of my free time with him - so you're getting a little more face time too.

Back-Tack II Update
I'm right in the middle of working on my Back-Tack II project. Unfortunately for me, I believe I am allergic to one of the fabrics that I've chosen to use. I sneezed my way through this morning, took some medicine and will be back at it tomorrow. Dedication is my middle name. (Okay, Ann is but I thought the other one sounded more confident.)

I also have to confess that other than visiting my buddy's blog and commenting anonymously, I've been terrified to post there as myself. I know it's crazy but I'm convinced that if I do I'll blow the surprise.

A First

Three years ago I made my first little pillows and a tiny quilt - for Olivia.

Olivia_bedding_1

While I was visiting there last weekend I asked Terilyn if she still had them. She did and took a picture of them for posterity.

p.s. This was about the time that Olivia started taking an interest in what I was doing and I started her on the hunt for the bug in my camera. (See the previous post if you're wondering what that is all about.)

Beautiful Girl

Olivia is Luke and Teriyln's daughter - very good friends of ours. (You may remember Terilyn from the Time Capsule posts I've done.) We were able to visit them this weekend in Dallas and I asked Olivia if she could see the bug inside my camera lens. She looked very hard for it and in the process I got some beautiful shots of her.

This picture is my favorite:

Peek-a-boo

Where's Isaiah? I was trying to get him to say "cheese" but he started playing peek-a-boo with me. I guess cheese sounds a a lot like peek to a one-year-old.

My sister-in-law and I made the painting in the background to go over her sofa - I love the colors.

Play Time, Craft Time

Today I spent some quality time playing with dinosaurs and my nephew Isaiah. According to Natalie (my sister-in-law) he was afraid of them at first and wouldn’t go near them. As you can see, he seems to have overcome his fear.

And yesterday I made another puppy - this time an orange one.

I used the same pattern for him as I did for Trixie and these three. Here's a side view so you can see his tail.

A Back-Tack II Update
I finally picked out the fabric and tote bag pattern for my secret partner. I've also ordered her some goodies to go into it. Now I need to get to work and actually make it and decide what other little accessories to include! I only hope that what I make turns out half as well as Six and A Half Stitches' beautiful project did.

welcome!
