wip::ornament idea #1
Here's a wip that I'm considering for the holiday ornament swap. I think I'm going to try making this guy in a couple of different fabrics, as well as testing out some of my gazillion other ideas before I can narrow it down to that one final project. Oh... the pressure of making the perfect ornament. I want to express my own peculiar crafting style and make something that all my swapees can love too.
Funny, a couple of weeks ago I was suffering from a lack of inspiration and this week I'm drowning in ideas. I'm loving this week! Oh, and because organizing my studio was such a creative boost, I'm thinking that I need to go ahead and organize my fabrics by color. It seems like that works well for a lot of people. Anyone out there have an opinion about it?
Have a great weekend - happy holiday crafting everyone!

Man, I wish I had a studio to organize. I've no problem with the creative juices right now though. It's my motivation that seems to have vanished. That happens to me when the pressure mounts. The holidays are fast approaching and I'm making most of our gifts this year, so of course I'm simply sitting on my arse twiddling my thumbs. Classic.

Sweet little bird.
I organize my fabric by color and I find it really helpful, plus it is visually appealing to me. =)

I don't sew like I used to, but I scrapbook religiously and I sort all my scrapbook paper by color (and occassionally by theme, depending on the paper). The initial task of sorting took forever, but once it was done ... ahhhhh. Heaven.
I'd think fabrics would work the same way.

Ok - love the bird...was thinking along those lines myself for the ornament swap, but moved on to something else. Still trying to organize my sewing room - I will be interested to hear what everyone has to say about organizing fabric by color.

My fabric is organized by color and this works great for me. Because I often use the tiniest of scraps for a project I can just throw all the blue fabrics together in one bin and then sort through them when I need some blue. I still create a mess, but only a small, contained mess that I can easily clean up.

that bird looks so good, even with the plain white fabric! <3

Love the bird. It's strange because I am a complete ornithophobe -- real birds scare the pants off of me. But cute little stylized birds really appreal to me. Go figure!
I'm also interested to hear about organizing fabrics. My fabric stash is relatively small (compared to my ginormous yarn stash) but yet it is highly disorganized. I hope to see photos of the organized studio/fabric stash...

I love the bird. I was thinking along the lines of white on white too but have settled for a muted color scheme instead.
