pom pom pumpkins tutorial

Pompompumpkins

Here's what you'll need:

Note: Myra asked if the pom poms are from a fringe so I wanted to let everyone know that, yes, they are. Thanks myra!

Supplies_2

STEP 1
Use fray check on the stem, twist it snugly so that you get a good base for the glue and thread to hold to. Let dry.

Step1

STEP 2
Dip the stem into the glue. Try not to get any on the pom pom or you'll have a mess. This is something I happen to know all about so you'll want to heed my warning.

Step2

STEP 3
Remove any excess glue with a toothpick. You don't want it too gloppy, just a nice covering.

Step3

STEP 4
Place one end of a 6" piece of the embroidery floss at the base of the stem.

Step4

STEP 5
Wind the floss into a loop at the top of the stem. Try to get the loop as small as you can and as flat against the top of the stem as possible.

Step5

STEP 6
Hold the pom pom in one hand, wind the floss back down to the bottom of the stem. Trim the floss and secure the end with a dab of glue. Feel free to mold the stem to get it into shape. (Works best while the glue is still damp.)

true to form

Do you remember how I was just telling you about my inability to remember my blog's milestones like the anniversary. etc. Well, I did it again. Yesterday was my 300th post and I totally missed it. Good thing I've already thrown myself an un-blogiversary party or I'd feel like Samantha Baker did on her birthday.

In other news, yesterday I was able to finish phase one of my project but, I need to do something else with it before I can show you. In the meantime, I have something fun to share. I picked up these little crochet babies in a thrift store this summer. Each one is no more than two inches tall. Also, I remember seeing that someone else had found some of these too, but, I can't remember who it was. Maybe on flickr? Let me know if it was you so I we can compare, kay?

is it monday already?

Thank you so much to everyone who commented on the last post about inspiration! I noticed that the scent of water and my artful life even went as far as to post about it. Thank you! I was wondering if anyone else has posted about what inspires them? If you did, please let me know so that I can add a link to your post here too.

In other news, I've been working like crazy on stuff and swaps and trying to finish my latest project and trying not to forget the projects in my head. Phew! Today it's sunny so this afternoon I hope to do some photographing. And this morning, all I have for you is a picture of some vintage fabric I found at the thrift store last week. Love those vintage prints.
