new tricks new year

Thanks to an old friend who came to visit over Thanksgiving, I'm learning some new tricks for the new year: the elusive French Knot! Apparently, a hands on lesson was exactly what I needed to master this technique. Who knew it was so fun to make dozens of little knots!

learning something new

Now, I need to come up with a project for using it. I can't just make little knots all over everything. Or, can I? Hmm...

One last picture because his eyes match the thread. Ahh, Clive. I can't remember why he was looking at me like that. He either wanted a treat (well, he always wants a treat) or he was waiting to hop up into my lap. Check out those whiskers.

wrap-o-rama

Wrapping. Wrapping. Wrapping. That's all I've been doing for the past few days -- Wrapping! At least I have my arsenal of holiday films to keep me company while I cut and fold and wrap and tape and tie... Phew! I'm off again now to the next pile that needs my attention and the next festive film.

elf tags for your gifts

Yikes! I am so stressed. More flipped out this year than the last. Mark noticed that I keep getting a little twitch under my eye. You know that little vein that throbs just under your lower lash line? Well, apparently, mine goes like mad when I'm under too much stress. I don't know if this year is really all that crazy -- but, it feels like it. So... I plan on being in short supply from now until after the holidays so that I can do everything that I need to.

I may pop in now and then, but in case I don't I wanted to giving you a little gift: Elf Holiday Gift Tags. Just click on the picture to download the PDF. Enjoy!

No 009 Reindeer with Candy Cane

You know I had to make one right? Mark says that I should put this into the shop -- but, I don't know if I can part with him. He's on my mantle right now with a couple of the elves that I haven't been able to part with either. Speaking of elves, I put two elfettes in the shop yesterday and there is still one left. I think that's it for shop updates this year. I have oh-so-many gifts still to make. Realistically, I know that I should no longer procrastinate. But, all I want to do is make and eat sugar cookies. I must resist the lure of the cookie!

In my hand for scale.

Part of the work that I'm doing for the final shop update of 2008.

Update: Hazeljoy has gently reminded me that it is still 2007. Oops!

doing that which is necessary

Making a teensy skirt for an elfette. It looks a little bit like a flower, don't you think?

Stacking up new fat quarters that I'm pretty sure I really needed. Yes, I'm almost positive that they were 75% necessary.

a few more out the door

I owed my sis-in-law a few things including some new fabric tags that I designed for her Christmas sewing projects. I hope you like the new tags Natalie. I designed them both but, Mark had the idea to add the little green apple to the corner of the "N" one too. Cute huh?

I also designed some new stickers to go on the larger packages going out for shop orders this week. By the way, I owe a big thank you to Natalie Zee again (!) for mentioning the Elf One-of-a-kinds on the craft blog. Thank you! And, thanks to everyone who bought one -- I am now completely sold out of my existing stock! If you wanted one but missed out on the last round, I'm working on two more Elfettes that are destined for the shop.
