new tricks new year

Thanks to an old friend who came to visit over Thanksgiving, I'm learning some new tricks for the new year: the elusive French Knot! Apparently, a hands on lesson was exactly what I needed to master this technique. Who knew it was so fun to make dozens of little knots!

Now, I need to come up with a project for using it. I can't just make little knots all over everything. Or, can I? Hmm...

One last picture because his eyes match the thread. Ahh, Clive. I can't remember why he was looking at me like that. He either wanted a treat (well, he always wants a treat) or he was waiting to hop up into my lap. Check out those whiskers.

French knots are fun but I'm in love with Clive. :0)

I can only imagine all the things you can create with that knot!

Look at that pretty kitty! I don't know much about embroidery, but I imagine you could do a lot with those knots!

Beautiful shots of your embroidery! I have used french knots to add centers to fabrics with printed flowers that I have cut out and appliqued on another fabric. Your knots look super! It is a great feeling to master them isn't it? Actually, mine still turn out kinda weird sometimes so I still need lots of practice!

Wishing you a marvelously crafty new year!

I've been craving to do some embroidery myself (don't know why) and these photos just make me want to grab a needle now.

Happy New Year Laurie! :)

I'm jealous. French knots elude me.

Yes, french knots are great on everything! I recently learned too and am still perfecting it. Yours are lovely.

great knots, great eyes, great whiskers!

Did you complete your embroidery? Let see let see!
and before I forgot : happy new year, wish all the best craft for you and all the joy for your family.
I'm so please to find your blog last year, and would visit you each day, this year.
Happy 2008

I've NEVER been able to figure out the french knot! Good for you!

I see NO reason why you can't cover everything with little knots. And now that you have the french knot mastered you're only a small step away from bullion knots!

I'm catching up on my reading after a busy holiday season and have been meaning to tell you that your little reindeer and elf actually made me squeal! Darling.

What a gorgeous cat!

Clive is a handsome fellow!

I love French knots! They make great flower centers, eyes, snowflakes... so many things. I'm sure you'll come up with many uses for them!

: )
