This is how Clive looks right before he starts whining for attention. This cat's meows are crazy. He sounds more like he's yelling than anything else. So funny. (Here's a pic of him mid-whine.) And despite the fact that he turned ten this past June, he still looks like a kitten to me. Do cat years work the same way as dog years. Is it seven or nine you're supposed to multiply their age by? Ahh well, I can never remember.
When it comes to decorating my house there is one constant -- change. I love to rearrange rooms or at least re-imagine them. I don't change the things that I feel I've gotten right like paint color (usually) or big ticket items like furniture. But when it comes to accessories (an ever increasing category in my case) I swap them around like pieces on a chess board -- always hoping to make the right move. When I get it right, I'm like a little kid. Oh, the joy! I love it. I'll walk by the arrangement over and over just to admire the perfectness of the thing.
In addition to constant imagining, editing, arranging and book/blog/magazine browsing that I do there are two things that I find are absolutely necessary to this process. What, you ask, are these magic tools? Inspiration (do what you love and love what you do no matter how big or small) ) and my trusty measuring tape, of course!
Before we added the topping we combined the following: two or three (I forget) peaches that were mere seconds from going bad, strawberries leftover from breakfast and a handful of dried tart cherries. Delish!
+ a cake from my favorite bakery (a surprise from Mark) + a shiny new table (seen in second photo. another surprise from Mark) + spending time with good friends + delicious cupcakes (not pictured) + flowers from a friend's garden (pictured below)
