Oh, the horror!

Two days ago it was seventy-seven degrees here and now...

I took this photo while I was watching the DVD on my mac the other day. I plan on watching it again while I make Valentine's Day cupcakes this afternoon. If they turn out and if I remember to take pictures, I'll post photos.
I wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day! ♥
p.s. This is also my current desktop wallpaper. Jealous? ;)
The sky was washed in the palest shades of pink and blue the other night so I decided to try and take a picture of it. As I was leaning out of our apartment window, I turned to my left and there was an unbelievable reflection of the sunset splashed across the mirrored surface of the Qwest building. Seriously amazing stuff. I didn't do a thing to this image either -- it looked just like this.
You really should see it BIGGER.
Both of these images were taken somewhere near Covent Garden this past Summer. I was trying to get more shots of them when some guy rode up and parked his bicycle right in front of the wall. So, this is what I got. They're not too bad, but, I would have liked to get a few pictures from different angles.
This is the luscious Valentine window display at the shop down the street. I didn't take a picture of their Christmas window, but I wish I had. I have this weird thing where I feel like I'm intruding on their privacy by taking a picture of the windows. That is odd, right? Maybe I'm projecting my own camera shyness into the mix. Either way, I did it. And I'm going to continue to do it. Often. So there!
And a closer look... I love the layered necklaces.
I took this photo with the intention of asking for your help choosing a couple of these fabrics for sofa pillows. But, I've already vetoed all of them. Some had too much of a white background, which my husband doesn't want. I have no problem with color, although I have a lot of red in the room so I'd have to love the fabric a lot to use it. The two cushions on the sofa may or may not stay in the room so I'm not worried about trying to incorporate them. I was hoping that maybe you all might have some fabric suggestions for me? Any ideas or inspiration?
On a completely unrelated note...
This bunny is by Jennifer Murphy and you can find it at Bay Berry Cove. Cute whiskers huh?
Why do you have to put away all of the Christmas goodies after the holiday? This year, I'm keeping my colorful garland and snowflakes up. And, despite my love of all things white, I'm adding pops of sugar plum color around the apartment to keep things cheerful during the long winter chill. Here are some of the things that inspired this flight of color fancy in me:
A newly organized kitchen cookbook corner.
Cute glasses that I found on sale at Anthropologie.
A new book: The Left Bank Look. Love it. The fabric you see here was a gift from Megan at Make It Snappy. Thanks again!
This page was the reason I got the book.
There was a lot of cleaning and straightening up to do in the studio yesterday. I'd made quite the mess trying to get things done before Christmas and our long trip south. Now, it's all tidy except for the floor, which needs to be swept. Well, that and a few new stacks of fabric that need to be sorted out. I was daydreaming about what to do next while I cleaned. What is a good first project for 2008? I think it should be something simple and gratifying. Fresh and colorful, but, not too Spring-like yet. Maybe I'll make some new slipcovers for our sofa throw pillows. I've had the same ones for a year and a half now and they're looking pretty tired. I hear there's a good tutorial for adding zippers to your pillow covers here. Tomorrow I can start going through the fabric stacks for some good candidates. Maybe, when I do, I'll get another glimpse of the lovely afternoon light like the one that was coming in through the studio windows yesterday. So pretty I had to take a few pictures.
