Can you guess what I'm doing tomorrow?

Tomorrow morning at 11:00 am we're closing on our house! Yep, we went and did it. We bought a house and we're thrilled. Even though we're closing tomorrow, the actual moving day isn't until the 21st. Stay tuned for updates and more photos!

The house is an American Foursquare built in 1916. The entire house was moved from a small town in 1939 to its current location in Sioux Falls.

I took this photo while standing on the stair and looking towards the fireplace in the living room. The sunroom is to the left and dining room to the right.

Here's a shot of the dining room. There are two built-in hutches. To the right is the entry to the kitchen. Through that doorway on the back wall (the green carpet) is an extra room that we're going to turn into a library.

And this is the 80s kitchen with the dropped ceiling. I think it needs some help.

Ahh... that's a little better on the eyes.

Accomplices

Do you remember when I used to make things? Me neither. At least, I don't remember making things very well because I can only think of the project that I most recently demolished. Ahem. Finished. It was such a huge failure. I took a cute, cute, cute shift dress that needed a little extra fabric added to lengthen the hem (you know, make it longer) and I turned it into something that looked like it had been sewn onto paper. All stretched, and wonky, and stiff and curling up at the hem and bad, bad, bad.

So, that's why I am just looking over at all those cruel spools of thread. They may look pretty, but they were party to a very bad thing. I only hope that I can cut that terrible paper-like hem off of my cute dress and start again.

a fresh new look for spring

making my own spring

It may be sunny outside but it's only in the high 30s at this very minute. Honestly, we can't take much more of this crazy mixed up definitely not springlike weather. So, I decided to make my own. The florist was out of peonies but they had this beautiful ranunculus. And the shop down the block had the perfect bud vase. It may not be much, but it lifts my mood out of the winter blahs every time I look over at it.

let's face it

Every once in a while I disappear off the face of my blog. I promised myself a long time ago that I would never suffer any guilt over erratic blogging. Sure, I miss the conversation, creative outlet and the comments, oh how I love me some comments. But guilt over not posting is something which I give myself permission not to feel. Now, guilt over missing a birthday, that I gotta accept. (I owe two belated gifts already this year!) But I shall not feel it about not blogging -- it is not a good thing I say.

Do you think I doth protest too much? Perhaps. ;)

Okay, now that I've gotten that off my chest, how about a little face time? These are a couple little wooden dolls that I picked up here or there:
